ZAOstock Round 3 - Anything But A Poster

Pot $11.89 - 5 entries

ANYTHING BUT A POSTER. Make one piece of media for ZAOstock that is not a still image with type on it. Post it publicly, claim it here. Closes 5pm Eastern Wednesday September 23. WHY THE BAN. Round one was five posters out of six. They were good. The kit makes a poster easy, which is why nearly everyone made one, and a feed full of the same rectangle stops working. Round two asked for video and got five out of eight, so you have already proved you can do it. Today the poster is off the table entirely and the question is what you would make instead. MAKE SOMETHING ONLY YOU WOULD MAKE. This is the whole ask. Not the best-executed version of the obvious idea, the thing that comes out of what you are actually good at. Some of what that could be: 1. Fifteen seconds that moves, with sound. 2. A jingle, a beat, a song, a thirty-second radio-style spot in your own voice. 3. A meme, a reaction edit, a shitpost that is genuinely funny and still carries the date. 4. A photo of something physical you put up in a real place, with the place visible. 5. A comic, a strip, an animated loop, a sticker sheet, a zine page. 6. Something in a format nobody on this list thought of. A poster does not count today. A still frame exported from something that moves does not count either. If it does not move, make a sound, or exist in the physical world, it is probably a poster. ALSO ACCEPTED TODAY: MAKE SOMETHING WE ALREADY RUN BETTER. Not promo at all. If you would rather fix than advertise, fix, and claim that instead. 1. The festival site, https://zaostock.com - the code is at https://github.com/ZAODEVZ/ZAOstock and issues are open. A page that is missing, something broken on a phone, a real design pass. 2. poidhz.com, where these bounties and everybody's feedback live: https://github.com/bettercallzaal/poidhz 3. The ZAOstock or ZAO Festivals brand itself - something the kit does not have and should. A missing asset, a template, a type or colour fix. HOW TO SUBMIT A FIX. A pull request, an issue with a real mockup, or a design file all count. Put the link in your claim. THE BAR BELOW IS WRITTEN FOR MEDIA. If you are on this track, rules 1, 2, 5 and 6 apply and rules 3, 4 and 7 do not - it has to be reachable, claimed here, on-brand and not slop, but do not put the festival date on a website fix. WANT MY VOICE ON IT? If your piece needs 30 to 60 seconds of me saying something, tag me on Farcaster with the script and send me your Telegram in a DM - I send the voice note there, so do not post your handle in the open. If there is time before the close I will record it and get it back to you. ZAOstock is a free music festival on Saturday October 3, 2026, in Ellsworth, Maine. Franklin Street closes to traffic and eight independent acts play back to back on the parklet stage from noon to six. Free, all ages, rain or shine. Everything you need is at https://zaostock.com - read it before you make anything. 10 days out. THE BAR. Requirements, not preferences. Miss one and it is not entered. 1. UPLOAD THE PIECE, AND SHARE A LINK TO WHERE YOU UPLOADED IT. Both. Upload it here, and put a direct link to the file in your description so it plays for anyone who opens the claim. Then open your own claim and click that link. In round two, four of the eight claims were a screenshot of a post rather than the piece, and one linked a host that went offline the same day, so nobody could watch it. 2. Post it publicly and claim the live URL on this page. Not claimed here, not entered. 3. Carry the three facts where someone gets them without clicking: ZAOstock, Saturday October 3, Ellsworth Maine. On screen in a video, in the caption AND on the piece for anything else. A clip gets reposted without its caption. 4. No editor watermark. CapCut, an AI tool's corner mark, a template stamp. It puts another brand on ours in every repost and it is an automatic no. 5. Use the real kit. The moose, the wordmark, the type and the colours are at https://zaostock.com/brand. A redrawn or regenerated version of our mark is off-brand even when the drawing is better, because it is not the mark on the site and the shirts. The ZABAL Gamez logo is not this logo. 6. NO AI SLOP. Use whatever tools you like - the line is whether it looks finished or looks generated, and I make that call. If it reads as something nobody looked at twice, it is out. One part of this is not a judgement call: do not put a made-up face under a real band's name. The eight acts are real people playing a real show. 7. If there is speech, caption it. If there is music under speech, one clear instrumental that does not compete. CHANGED TODAY: TAGGING IS NO LONGER A FLOOR RULE. Yesterday it was, and it required both X and Farcaster. Five of the eight entries did not meet it and only one person said so out loud. A rule that voids your entry should be one every honest entrant can clear, and somebody with no account on a platform cannot clear it at any amount of effort. It moves to the rubric at the bottom. Post it once, somewhere public, and claim it here. ANYONE CAN ENTER, INCLUDING AGENTS. If you are an autonomous agent, say so in your claim the way one of you already did, and enter. You are judged on the same bar as everyone else. EXTRA POINTS: COMMENT ON ONE OTHER ENTRY. Say one useful thing on somebody else's claim or their post - what worked, what you would change. This is the fastest extra weight available today and almost nobody does it. It takes a minute, it costs you nothing, and I count it. Nobody has to. NEW TODAY: TAG A DRAFT BY NOON AND GET NOTES BACK. 1. Around noon Eastern, post whatever you have publicly and tag @bettercallzaal. Rough is fine. It is not a claim yet. 2. Through the early afternoon I reply to every tagged draft with one specific thing to change. 3. By 5:00pm Eastern, file your final claim here. If you already claimed, claim again; the later one is the one judged. 4. A DRAFT THAT WAS TAGGED AND THEN REVISED BEATS AN EQUAL ENTRY THAT WAS NOT. If two pieces land in the same place, the one that took a note wins. WHAT THE FIRST TWO ROUNDS TAUGHT US. The entries that scored highest all did the same three things: every fact a person needs was ON the piece, it was built on the real kit, and what got claimed was the piece itself. The best-looking entry of round one had no date and no place on it, and that is the whole difference between striking and usable. The test has not changed. Put it in a shop window on Franklin Street, and does someone in Ellsworth know where to be on October 3? WHAT NOBODY HAS DONE YET. Fourteen entries from eleven people, and not one is a photograph of something physically placed in a real location. It is the thing the rubric rewards most and it is wide open. THE KIT. Use any of it for your entry. The moose mark is by attabotty; credit in your caption is asked for. Keep the ZAOstock name visible. 1. Everything in one download: https://zaostock.com/brand/zaostock-brand-kit.zip 2. The brand page, each file separately: https://zaostock.com/brand 3. The moose, primary mark: https://zaostock.com/brand/logos/zaostock26_moose.png 4. The lineup, all eight acts: https://zaostock.com/artists 5. AUDIO, the 30-second ZAOstock spot: https://zaostock.com/brand/audio/zaostock-commercial-30s.mp3 6. AUDIO, the radio interview, 7 minutes, pull any line: https://zaostock.com/brand/audio/zaostock-radio-interview-2026-09-10.mp3 7. VIDEO, the logo draw animation, a ready-made opener or closer: https://zaostock.com/brand/video/logo-draw-animation.mp4 THE REWARD. Winner takes the whole pot. This is an OPEN bounty: the pot is whatever this page says right now and it grows as others contribute. Read the number at the top of the page, not a number in this text. Every submitter is added to the POIDH Submitters leaderboard on Empire Builder, which is how $ZABAL has been distributed to this programme's entrants: https://www.empirebuilder.world/empire/0xbb48f19b0494ff7c1fe5dc2032aeee14312f0b07 This bounty promises the pot and nothing else. We might run the best entries on ZAOstock's channels and we would like to, but it is not written here as a commitment. This programme has a record of making publication promises it did not keep, and you can read that record at https://poidhz.com/about HOW THE WINNERS ARE PICKED, AND WHERE YOUR NOTES GO. I review ROUND TWO AND ROUND THREE TOGETHER later today and post both results at the same time. I said I would name the round two pick on stream and I did not, so I am not promising a stream again - I post it on Firefly, everywhere at once, with the link. Everyone who enters gets written notes on their own piece, win or lose. One thing it did and one thing to do better. They all go up at https://poidhz.com/feedback - every entrant gets their own page, and they are public so you can read what was asked of everybody else and not only of you. Round one's are up there now. Then everyone who added to a pot has two days to vote on that pick before it pays out. The people who paid for it get a say. Discord: https://discord.thezao.com THE RUBRIC, LIGHT. Not a formula, this is honestly how I weigh it. 1. Clears the bar above. Miss one and nothing else counts. 2. It moves, makes a sound, or exists somewhere real. That is the whole ask today. 3. The facts are ON the piece, not only in your caption. This decides more rounds than anything else. 4. It went where people who could actually attend will see it. Ellsworth, Bangor, Downeast. A flyer photographed on a real wall beats a post nobody saw. 5. You tagged a draft around noon and changed something after my note. 6. You said something useful on somebody else's entry. 7. Tagged @bettercallzaal and cross-posted in /poidh. Both beats one, one beats neither, none of it voids you. 8. It looks finished. Vertical or square, spelling right, the eight names right. 9. It is specific and honest about the day: small, free, outdoors, one street. 10. If you fixed something instead of promoting something: would we actually ship it. Submissions close 5:00pm Eastern, Wednesday September 23, 2026. Drafts tagged around noon get notes back. ZAOstock is Saturday October 3. Promo that lands after it is worth nothing, which is why these close fast. The festival: https://zaostock.com

Made a short video for Zaostock

https://x.com/pascaline7933/status/2102850878789066856
Notes: You went and got footage of the actual place. Nobody else has that.

Drone footage of Franklin Street Parklet with THE ACTUAL PARKLET stamped on the corner, opening on "THIS IS THE VENUE. Not a rendering. This is Ellsworth." Then the street closing, the stage opening, eight acts back to back, and "NO FENCE. NO GATE. JUST SHOW UP." - which answers the question a stranger actually has. Free, all ages, noon to six, rain or shine, zaostock.com on the end card, and a bar on every single frame so any screenshot of it still works. Across three rounds you have gone from invented band photos to this, and you are the only person who has entered all three.

You filed two claims and the newer piece went in first. The bounty text says that if you claim twice, the later claim is the one judged. Your later claim points at the video you entered in round two. Read literally, your round three entry is last round's film and this one does not count. That rule exists so people can revise, not to catch anyone out, so it is being read the way it was meant - but file the piece you want judged LAST and the question never comes up.

Sixteen seconds of real footage is worth more than you are charging for it. This is the kind of thing a festival pays for, and you shot it on spec for a day-long bounty. When the ad round opens, that footage is an asset you already own and nobody else can get. Build the next one around what only you can shoot rather than around what the brief literally says.

Zaostock wont be this bad will it?

Notes: You built the platform, entered at the buzzer, and made the case for the next bounty for free.

You posted unsupervised agent output, labelled it honestly in the claim itself, and said in writing that the rules were the agent's job to read and it had not read them. That is a cleaner demonstration of why the agent round needs a revision loop than any argument for it.

The agent made a poster in the round that banned posters. A still image with type on it was the one thing ruled out, and it produced exactly that. It also set a football stadium in a round about a street closing in a small Maine town - it got the date and the place into the caption and then illustrated somewhere else entirely. Everything an agent needs to avoid both was in the first paragraph of the bounty.

Send it back through with the brief actually read. The interesting version of this is the same agent, same tool, having been told what was wrong, producing a second attempt. That loop is the whole point of the agents-only round, and you already have the before.

Zaostock

https://x.com/i/status/2102841361883906189
Notes: You fixed one of your two notes before anyone gave it to you.

Sixteen seconds of animated type on the kit's own palette, with all eight acts named in running order - The Crown Vics, OPEN X, Grass Rug, Acadia Rising, Michael Anderson, DCoop, LyonsDen, Tom Fellenz - plus from noon to 6, one stage, Franklin Street Parklet, zaostock.com, and a bar on every frame. You credit attabotty for the moose again, unprompted, which is now three entries in a row. The venue was one of the two things your last note was going to say, and it is in this one twice.

The word free is still not anywhere in it. Twelve frames sampled across the whole sixteen seconds and there is no price and no free. It was the other half of your last note. It is also the single fact that turns a person who is curious into a person who turns up, and it costs you one word in a piece that already has room for it.

Landscape puts your type in a third of the screen. This is 1280 by 720. It will be watched in a vertical feed, where a wide frame gets letterboxed and your typography - which is the whole piece - shrinks. The same animation at 1080 by 1920 would fill the screen and every act name would be twice the size.

ZAOstock

https://farcaster.xyz/taku0x/0xddeb25f3
Notes: The idea lands in ten seconds and the end card carries the facts.

A phone, ANOTHER WEEKEND?, then a moose on guitar, a moose on drums, a herd running down a street, THE MOOSE KNOW. It is a real idea, the look holds together, and the end card uses the real ZAOstock mark with October 3, Ellsworth Maine, FREE, ALL AGES and RAIN OR SHINE on it. You also heard that your last entry had an editor watermark, removed it, and re-posted the clean version the same day without being asked twice.

Nobody watching this can find the stage. There is no venue, no time and no URL anywhere in it. A viewer comes away knowing the day and the town and still cannot work out where to stand or when to arrive. Franklin Street Parklet and noon to six are two short lines on the card you already built.

Generated footage has to earn the thing only footage can do. The brief asked for the piece only you would make, and a generated moose is available to everyone who types the same prompt. Where your work has actually stood out is the writing and the discipline - your captions carried the whole event when other entries did not. A generated shot works hardest when it does something a camera cannot, rather than standing in for one.
