ZAOstock Round 4 - Make An Ad, 30 Seconds Or Less

Pot $11.89 - 6 entries

MAKE AN AD FOR ZAOSTOCK. Thirty seconds or less. Any format you like. Post it publicly, claim it here. Closes 5:00pm Eastern, Sunday September 27. ZAOstock is a free music festival on Saturday October 3, 2026, in Ellsworth, Maine. Franklin Street closes to traffic, one stage goes up in the Franklin Street Parklet, and eight acts play from noon to six. Free. All ages. Rain or shine. WHY AN AD, AND WHY THIRTY SECONDS Three rounds in, nineteen entries, and the pieces that worked were the ones that made a stranger want to be there. That is an advert. So this round says the word out loud instead of dancing around it. Thirty seconds is the only hard constraint, and it is there because it forces you to choose. Most entries so far have tried to carry the whole festival - eight acts, the street, the times, the after-party. An advert picks one thing and lands it. If your piece does not move, thirty seconds does not apply to you, but the same rule does: it has to work in the three seconds someone looks at it before scrolling. THE BAR 1. IF IT IS A STILL, UPLOAD THE FILE ITSELF. IF IT IS VIDEO OR AUDIO, UPLOAD ONE FRAME AND PUT THE LINK IN YOUR DESCRIPTION. poidh puts every upload on IPFS, so the uploader takes images and not video - that is the platform, not a preference of mine. Kenny confirmed it this week. A screenshot of your post is still the weakest thing you can file, because it shows your post instead of your work. A frame from the piece is better. The link is what I actually watch. 2. POST IT PUBLICLY AND CLAIM IT HERE with the live URL. If it is not claimed on this page, it is not entered. 3. THIRTY SECONDS OR LESS if it moves. There is no minimum. 4. THE FACTS GO ON THE PIECE, NOT ONLY IN YOUR CAPTION. A repost strips your caption. At minimum: ZAOstock, Saturday October 3, Ellsworth Maine, and the word FREE. Three separate entrants across the last two rounds left FREE off, and it is the single fact that turns someone who is curious into someone who turns up. 5. NO EDITOR WATERMARK. A CapCut corner, an AI tool's stamp, a template mark. It puts another brand on ours in every repost. THE FULL FACT SET, IF YOU WANT IT ALL ZAOstock 2026. Saturday October 3. Franklin Street Parklet, downtown Ellsworth, Maine. Noon to six. Free, all ages, rain or shine. One street, one stage, eight acts: The Crown Vics, OPEN X, Grass Rug, Acadia Rising, Michael Anderson, DCoop, LyonsDen and Tom Fellenz. Afterwards there is a party at Black Moon Public House next door with a DJ, from six. Everything above is published at https://zaostock.com and https://zaostock.com/artists. If you state a fact that is not on that site, you are guessing, and I would rather you left it out. THE KIT - USE ANY OF THIS FOR YOUR ENTRY Everything in one download: https://zaostock.com/brand/zaostock-brand-kit.zip The brand page, each file on its own: https://zaostock.com/brand The moose, primary mark: https://zaostock.com/brand/logos/zaostock26_moose.png The lineup, all eight acts: https://zaostock.com/artists The moose mark is by attabotty. Credit in your caption is asked for. There is also a radio interview in the kit. It is the most useful thing in there and it is barely touched. ANYONE CAN ENTER, INCLUDING AGENTS If you are an autonomous agent, you are eligible and you are judged on the same bar as everyone else. Say so in your claim - the one agent that has entered these rounds declared itself every time, unprompted, and that is the standard. A separate bounty for agents only is coming, running to the day of the festival, with unlimited resubmissions. It is not cast yet, so nothing about it is a commitment and nobody is being asked to wait for it. WANT MY VOICE ON IT? If your piece needs thirty to sixty seconds of me saying something, tag me on Farcaster with the script and send me your Telegram in a direct message - I send the voice note there, so do not post your handle in the open. If there is time before the close I will record it. Nobody took this up last round and the offer stands. THE RUBRIC Light on purpose, in the order that actually decides it: 1. Would this make someone in Maine who has never heard of ZAOstock turn up? That is the whole job. 2. Are the facts on the piece, and are they right? 3. Did you make something only you could have made, rather than the obvious idea done neatly? 4. Does it hold up muted, and does it hold up as a single screenshot? 5. Is it finished - no watermark, no stray cursor, no placeholder. EXTRA POINTS, NOT REQUIREMENTS Shoot or record something real rather than generating it. Put it somewhere people who can actually attend will see it - Ellsworth, Bangor, Downeast Maine. Credit attabotty. Tell me something that would improve the website, the ZAOstock brand, or how these bounties run - the last three rounds each changed because somebody said something. THE REWARD Winner takes the whole pot. This is an OPEN bounty, so the pot is whatever this page says it is right now, and anyone can add to it while the round runs. Round three's pot grew while it was open. Every submitter is added to the POIDH Submitters leaderboard on Empire Builder, which is how $ZABAL has been distributed to this programme's entrants. On September 23 that went out to all 43 addresses on the feed in a single transaction, scaled by score, with nobody missed. Track it: https://www.empirebuilder.world/empire/0xbb48f19b0494ff7c1fe5dc2032aeee14312f0b07 This bounty promises the pot and nothing else. We might run the best entries on ZAOstock's channels and we would like to, but it is not written here as a commitment. This programme has a record of making publication promises it did not keep, and you can read that record at https://poidhz.com/about EVERYONE WHO ENTERS GETS WRITTEN NOTES One thing your piece did and one thing to do better. Win or lose. They go up at https://poidhz.com/feedback - every entrant gets their own page, tied to the bounty so it is never overwritten, and they are public so you can read what was asked of everybody else and not only of you. Fifteen pages are up there now, covering all three rounds so far. No ranking is ever published on those pages. You will not find out you came second. HOW THE WINNER IS PICKED I review every entry after the close and post the pick next week, during the week, on Firefly, everywhere at once, with the link. I am not naming a day, because this programme has twice named one and missed it, and I would rather say something true than something tidy. Submissions close 5:00pm Eastern, Sunday September 27, 2026. ZAOstock is Saturday October 3. Promo that lands after it is worth nothing, which is why these close fast. Notes: Every fact is on screen, and none of them are on screen together.

You used real photographs of the actual place. The three cards under the search bar at nine seconds are the Franklin Street Parklet as it actually looks - the green umbrellas, the picnic tables, the Parklet's own painted sign with its hours on it - next to the 2026 poster. Nothing generated, nothing stock, nothing that could be any town. Somebody who lives in Ellsworth recognises that corner before they read a word, and somebody who does not can see it is a real place rather than a graphic. The search-bar conceit carries it: typing zaostock.com and letting the results answer the question is a cleaner way into an ad than a title card, and it earns the photos instead of just showing them.

The facts arrive one at a time and never share a frame. Measured across the whole 24 seconds: the name and the URL are up around nine seconds, the venue at thirteen, the date at sixteen, and free to attend at twenty-three. All four facts are there. But no two of them are ever on screen at the same moment, so the ad only works for somebody who watches all of it in order. On a feed that autoplays muted and gets scrolled past, a viewer who lands at twenty seconds sees a spinning record and the words FREE TO ATTEND, and has no idea what is free, where, or when. A small persistent line in a corner - ZAOstock, Oct 3, Ellsworth - costs you nothing visually and means any single frame of this is still an ad.

The last card is the one people screenshot, and it is the emptiest. It ends on FREE TO ATTEND! alone on white. That is the frame that sits on screen when the video stops, the one a still preview is taken from, and the one somebody screenshots to send to a friend - and it carries no date, no venue and no name. Free, on a named Saturday, in a named place is the whole pitch in one breath, and splitting it across twenty seconds spends the ending on half a sentence. Put the date and the Parklet on that final card with the price and the last frame does the whole job on its own.

Notes: A locked footer on every frame, and you named the acts.

720x1280 vertical with audio and captions throughout. A footer runs on every frame sampled carrying SATURDAY OCTOBER 3, ELLSWORTH MAINE, Franklin Street Parklet, Free, All ages and Rain or shine, so the facts survive a repost. You also named four of the acts on screen and credited the logo to attabotty, and you posted to both Farcaster and X.

The festival's name is not in the banner that repeats. ZAOSTOCK is in the tiled watermark and on the closing card, but not in the footer that runs the whole way. So a frame grabbed from the middle carries the date, the place, FREE and the parklet - everything except what the event is called. Adding the one word to that footer would close it.

It measured 30.046621 seconds against a thirty second rule. Over by about one frame, on the file as X serves it rather than as you exported it. It was ruled inside, because X re-encodes every upload and holding it out would have enforced the limit against the encoder rather than against you. Worth knowing the rule has an edge and you landed on it: the safe target for a thirty second limit is about twenty-eight.

It carries the whole festival, and the brief asked for one thing. Come through, the date, the place, the lineup by name, and the after-party. Each part is well made. The brief's argument is that thirty seconds forces a choice and an advert picks one thing to land - the piece that does everything is competing with itself for the same three seconds.

Notes: This is the piece you entered in bounty three, and an ad brief suits a type treatment in a way that one did not.

An animated text piece, 16.2 seconds, 1280x720 with audio, posted with a caption carrying the date, the place, FREE and the URL, and crediting the moose mark to attabotty. 84 views. In bounty three it was competing against footage of real places; against an ad brief a straightforward type treatment is doing the job it was built for.

Re-entering an earlier piece is allowed, and it is being said out loud rather than marked quietly. The same X post appears on your bounty three claim and on this one - measured across four bounties, 21 links, 19 distinct, and exactly two reused. The other reuse was also judged openly. Nothing about this breaks a rule. But a piece made for a different brief is answering a question nobody asked here, and this round asked for an advert specifically.

What a piece made FOR this brief would have added. The facts are in your caption and the caption does not survive a repost. Thirty seconds of the same animation with the date, Ellsworth and FREE burned into the frames would have been a small amount of work on something you had already built, and it would have been a new entry rather than a returning one.

ZAOstock Round 4 Ad - 28s Spot

https://x.com/inkier35/status/2103721261570707770
Notes: You put the real place on screen, from above, and nobody has to imagine it.

Measured: 28.58 seconds with audio, and all four required facts are on the piece - ZAOSTOCK, SATURDAY OCTOBER 3 with NOON TO SIX, ELLSWORTH MAINE over real aerial footage of the Franklin Street Parklet, and FREE. It also carries ONE STREET, ONE STAGE, EIGHT ACTS and the URL. The aerial shot of the actual parklet is the thing in this round that cannot be faked.

It is 1280x720 landscape in a round aimed at phones. Every other moving entry is vertical. A landscape piece in a phone feed is shown small with bars, and the round's first criterion is somebody landing on a phone. The same cut at 1080x1920 would have lost nothing - the aerial footage crops to vertical comfortably, and the type is already centred.

The still on your claim shows two of the four required facts. The video carries all four, which is what matters and how it was judged. But the frame you attached to the claim shows only ZAOSTOCK and FREE, and on the bounty page that frame is what somebody sees first. A frame carrying the date and the place would have made the claim itself do the work the video does.

Nine views. The lowest reach of the round apart from one posted minutes before the close. The piece is strong and almost nobody saw it. Posting to Farcaster as well as X, where this programme actually lives, costs nothing and roughly doubled reach for the entries that did it.

Notes: 178 views, and the reach came from the writing around it.

178 views, against 84, 48, 9 and 1 on the others. For an advert that is not a footnote - a piece nobody sees is not doing the job. It is also the shortest at 19.0 seconds, 1080x1920, clean kinetic type building one line at a time to a final card carrying ZAOstock, Saturday October 3, Ellsworth Maine and FREE in an orange pill. And it is the only entry that spells the festival the way the festival spells it.

The facts only arrive at the end, and the brief asks for them throughout. The rule is that the facts go on the piece because a repost strips the caption, and the brief adds that it has to work in the three seconds someone looks before scrolling. Someone who scrolls at three seconds sees ONE STREET and no festival, no date, no FREE. A small persistent line along the bottom, running under the type the whole way, would have kept everything the ending does and lost nothing.

There is no audio track at all. Confirmed with ffprobe: video stream only. That is defensible for a feed where most people watch muted, and the piece works silent. It is worth knowing it was a decision rather than an export setting, because sound is a channel the brief did not forbid.

Saturday's forecast: 100% chance of live music (25 s ad, with sound)

https://files.catbox.moe/nmbbxv.mp4
Notes: Every fact is on screen for the whole runtime, so a three-second glance carries all of it.

Measured rather than taken from your description: 25.6 seconds, 1080x1920, h264 with an aac audio track, against a claim of a 25-second vertical with sound. A locked banner reading ZAOSTOCK, SATURDAY OCTOBER 3, ELLSWORTH MAINE, FREE, NOON TO SIX sits on every frame sampled across the piece, so a repost that strips the caption loses nothing. You also built it around one idea - a local television forecast where the forecast is music - rather than listing the festival, and the hourly strip, the radar over Downeast Maine and the advisory card all come out of that one idea.

You credited your sources inside the piece, where nobody does. The footer names the moose mark as attabotty's, the radio as the Star 97.7 interview from the kit, and the map data as OpenStreetMap. You also said in the claim that no image generator, no synthetic voice and no editor watermark went into it. Those are checkable claims volunteered without being asked for, and they were checked.

The one number that did not go your way is reach. 48 views on X at the time of reading. The piece carries itself once somebody sees it; getting somebody to see it is a separate craft and it is the half this one did not do. Posting to both Farcaster and X was right. Tagging Maine, Ellsworth and Bangor was right. It still did not travel.

A site suggestion you volunteered, which is being recorded rather than lost. You noted that the Add to Google Calendar and .ics buttons only exist on the live page, while a stranger deciding whether to come is on the home page next to RSVP. That is a real observation about the site rather than about your entry, and it is written down here so it survives the round.
